Kabul (Afghanistan), November 3 (LaPresse) – A powerful magnitude 6.3 earthquake struck northern Afghanistan last night, causing the death of at least ten people. Over 260 others were injured. This was announced by Sharafat Zaman, spokesperson for the Ministry of Public Health. The epicenter of the earthquake was located 22 km southwest of Khulm, at a depth of 27 km. The provinces of Balkh and Samangan suffered the most damage. The earthquake was also felt in Mazar-e-Sharif, the capital of the northern Balkh province, where the historic Blue Mosque—one of the country’s most venerated religious monuments—suffered some damage to its walls.
