Hanoi (Vietnam), Nov 3 (LaPresse) – The death toll in Vietnam from the floods that have affected the country since October has risen to 37, with 78 injured and 5 missing. Record rainfall has caused flooding and landslides, sweeping away homes and displacing thousands of people. Local authorities reported the latest figures, adding that 5 people are still missing. Meanwhile, another typhoon, Kalmaegi, is expected to hit the area at the end of this week. Rescue teams reached many residents who had been trapped at the end of last week when the waters temporarily receded, but by Monday morning, river levels began rising again. The Huong and Bo rivers in the city of Hue have reached dangerous levels, and authorities have warned that more heavy rainfall is expected throughout the region.
