Milan, 5 November (LaPresse) – "The five compatriots from the province of Como who left with a Milan-based agency and are considered “missing” by the Nepalese authorities were trekking towards the Makalu base camp, just west of the Khumbu Valley (a different location from where the accidents involving their compatriots occurred). In their case, the route takes place at medium-low altitudes, with the highest point being 4,800 metres, but only for a short stretch. The local agency responsible for the excursion has confirmed that, according to the schedule, the climbers would not have had any connection until tomorrow and would therefore have been temporarily unreachable. The Consulate General in Calcutta continues to monitor the situation, but at present, these five should not be considered “missing” but rather unable to communicate. This information has been provided by the Farnesina.
