Brasilia (Brazil), Nov 23 (LaPresse) – Former Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro has admitted to using a soldering iron to try to open his electronic ankle bracelet. This is according to a report from prison officers seen by the Associated Press. In a video from the court, viewed by AP, Bolsonaro admits to attempting this action. The footage shows part of the ankle bracelet severely damaged. Bolsonaro, 70, who was under house arrest, had been sentenced to wear the device due to being considered a flight risk. He was arrested on Saturday morning on charges of conspiring to escape and avoid serving a 27-year prison sentence for leading an attempted coup. Andriely Cirino, Bolsonaro's assistant, confirmed that the arrest occurred around 6 a.m. on Saturday.
