Milan, 27 November (LaPresse) – A Russian court has sentenced eight defendants found guilty of a terrorist attack on the Crimean bridge in 2022 to life imprisonment, according to the Tass news agency. ‘The court found the defendants guilty and sentenced them to life imprisonment,’ the judge announced. The court also ordered the payment of 7 billion roubles (approximately 77 million euros) in compensation to the companies and individuals affected by the attack. The eight convicted are Artem Azatyan, Georgy Azatyan, Oleg Antipov, Aleksandr Bylin, Vladimir Zloba, Dmitry Tyazhelykh, Roman Solomko and Artur Terchanyan. On 8 October 2022, a truck exploded on the Crimean Bridge, causing two spans to collapse and a large fire on the railway line. Four people died. No one claimed responsibility for the attack, but the head of the Russian Investigative Committee, Alexander Bastrykin, accused the Ukrainian intelligence agencies.
