Ukraine, today a new round of talks in Miami between the U.S. and Kyiv

Washington (DC, USA), Dec. 6 (LaPresse) – U.S. and Ukrainian officials have announced that they will meet for the third consecutive day after progress made on the security framework, urging Russia to commit to peace. The officials, who met for the second day in Florida on Friday, issued a joint statement providing an overview of the progress they say has been made as Trump pushes Kyiv and Moscow to accept a U.S.-mediated proposal to end nearly four years of war. “Both sides agreed that real progress toward any agreement depends on Russia’s willingness to demonstrate a serious commitment to long-term peace, including measures aimed at de-escalation and the cessation of killings,” the statement reads. “The parties also separately reviewed the future prosperity program aimed at supporting Ukraine’s postwar reconstruction, joint U.S.–Ukraine economic initiatives, and long-term recovery projects.” The talks between U.S. special envoy Steve Witkoff and Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner in Florida with Rustem Umerov, Ukraine’s chief negotiator, follow discussions between President Vladimir Putin and U.S. envoys at the Kremlin on Tuesday. Friday’s session took place at the Shell Bay Club in Hallandale Beach, Florida, an exclusive private golf club owned by Witkoff’s real estate company.
