Brussels, 8 December (LaPresse) – "It is true that this US security strategy continues to refer to Europe as an ally, which is fine. But if we are allies, we must act like allies. And allies do not threaten to interfere in each other's internal political choices. We respect each other, we respect each other's sovereignty. Of course, Europeans do not share the same view as Americans on various issues, and it is natural that they do not share it, which we cannot accept." This was stated by the President of the European Council, Antonio Costa, speaking at the annual conference of the Jacques Delors Institute in Paris. ‘It is this threat of interference in European political life. The United States cannot replace European citizens in choosing good parties and bad parties. The United States cannot replace the European vision of freedom of expression, and we must be clear on this point,’ he stressed.
