Milan, 20 Dec. (LaPresse) – Regarding the Donbass region, a Ukrainian territory partially occupied by Russia, ‘I explained that it will not be possible for us to leave and for the Russian army to remain, because we do not believe that such a free zone is safe.’ This was stated by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky speaking to journalists, as reported by RBC-Ukraine. ‘We are certain that the Russian army will want to enter our territory at any moment, as it has done throughout all these years of aggression. Therefore, this cannot be,’ he added, ‘the best thing, an honest option, is to stay where we are. Less compromise and less dialogue. If the question of a free economic zone is raised, then I have told our partners: I apologise, but it will be the people who decide.’
