Ankara (Turkey), 24 Dec. (LaPresse/AP) – Today, search teams recovered the cockpit voice and flight data recorders from the jet that crashed, killing the Libyan military chief and other senior officers, while operations to recover the victims' remains were still ongoing. This was announced by the Turkish Interior Minister. At the crash site, search and rescue teams stepped up operations today after a night of heavy rain and fog, the state-run Anadolu news agency reported. The gendarmerie cordoned off the area while the Turkish disaster management agency, AFAD, set up a mobile coordination centre. Specialised vehicles, such as tracked ambulances, were deployed due to the muddy terrain. Turkey has appointed four prosecutors to lead the investigation, and Yerlikaya said that Turkish search and rescue teams numbered 408 members. During his stay in Ankara, al-Haddad had met with Turkish Defence Minister Yasar Guler and other officials.
