Rome, Jan. 2 (LaPresse) – The EU “reacted promptly” to the tragic fire that broke out in Crans-Montana, and "in response to Switzerland's request for emergency assistance through the EU Civil Protection Mechanism, efforts are underway to evacuate seriously injured patients so that they can receive specialized care. To this end, experts known as ‘Burns Assessment Teams’ have been sent to Switzerland.“ This is according to a statement from the EU Commission, which explains that European countries ”have offered help, enabling the transport of 24 patients to hospitals in Belgium, France, Germany, and Italy so far. France, Italy, Luxembourg, Romania, and Switzerland have provided the logistics for medical transport. In addition, burn assessment teams from France and Italy are providing support to Swiss hospitals in Valais and Lausanne, offering highly specialized expertise in burn care for each patient. So far, 21 countries have offered help: 18 for treatment, 9 for transport, and 6 for the provision of experts. Switzerland is further assessing the situation.
