Paris, Jan. 6 (LaPresse) – “I believe an important step towards peace has been taken. Today we are gathered in this place together with the Ukrainians, other EU members, and the US delegation after the Berlin meeting. We want to ensure that the weapons fall silent after four years in Ukraine, and we must intensify our efforts to achieve a solid outcome.”
This was stated by German Chancellor Friedrich Merz at a press conference following the Coalition of the Willing meeting in Paris. “We want an agreement based on strong security guarantees. We Europeans want to participate in shaping the ceasefire,” which “must be the first objective, and the members of the Coalition of the Willing are ready to act,” he added, also emphasizing that “we are grateful to the United States.”
