Milan, 8 January (LaPresse) – ‘We call on Washington to return to respecting the fundamental rules and principles of international maritime navigation and to immediately cease its illegal actions against the Marinera, as well as against other vessels carrying out legitimate activities on the high seas.’ This was stated in a note from the Russian Foreign Ministry, as reported by the Tass agency. ‘We reiterate our request to the American side to ensure humane and dignified treatment of Russian citizens on board the tanker, to strictly respect their rights and interests, and not to prevent their rapid return home,’ the Ministry added.
