Milan, 11 January (LaPresse) – The Nordic countries reject US President Donald Trump's claims about Russian and Chinese ships operating near Greenland, which he cited to justify his desire to conquer the Danish Arctic island. The Financial Times reports this, citing two senior Nordic diplomats with access to NATO intelligence information. ‘It is not true at all that the Chinese and Russians are there. I have seen the intelligence information. There are no ships, no submarines,’ said one senior diplomat. Another from another Nordic country added: "The idea that the waters around Greenland are full of Russian and Chinese ships or submarines is simply false. They are in the Arctic, yes, but on the Russian side.‘ Norway's Foreign Minister Espen Barth Eide also rejected these claims: ’It is not true that there is much activity from Russia or China around Greenland," he told Norwegian broadcaster NRK.
