Rome, 12 January (LaPresse) – US President Donald Trump has denied any knowledge of the Department of Justice's investigation into Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell. ‘I don't know anything about it, but he's certainly not very good at the Fed and he's not very good at building buildings,’ Trump told NBC. The investigation concerns alleged irregularities in the renovation of Fed buildings. It is a £2.5 billion project that US President Donald Trump described as excessive this summer. Trump pointed out that the US Department of Justice's subpoena has nothing to do with interest rates. ‘What should be putting pressure on him is the fact that rates are too high. That's the only pressure he has,’ Trump said. According to the US president, Powell ‘has hurt a lot of people’ and ‘I think public opinion is putting pressure on him.’
