Rome, 12 January (LaPresse) – ‘President Rodriguez's decision to release these Italian citizens is a very strong signal that points towards a change of pace. The first response is to raise the level of our diplomatic representation. Today, our ambassador is a chargé d'affaires. We have decided to elevate the head of the delegation to ambassador.’ So said Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani during a press conference at the Farnesina. “Now we must work to ensure that a different kind of collaboration can begin,” Tajani added. “We have many companies there, and we have 170,000 Venezuelan citizens with Italian passports. There are about one million Venezuelan citizens of Italian origin. So Venezuela is a very important country for us,” he concluded.
