Rome, 21 January (LaPresse) – The death toll from Sunday afternoon's train accident in Adamuz, in the province of Cordoba, southern Spain, has risen to 43. This was reported by local media, including El Pais, according to which rescuers today found a new body among the wreckage of the Alvia Madrid-Málaga train, which collided with a previously derailed Iryo Málaga-Madrid train. Dozens of operators and specialised vehicles are working in the accident area to remove the carriages involved and secure the site so that heavy machinery can be brought in. Meanwhile, in Catalonia, the Generalitat has decided to suspend the entire Rodalies rail service until at least this afternoon, following another accident overnight near Gelida, in which a 27-year-old trainee train driver was killed. Traffic in Barcelona remains heavily congested, with severe delays on both public transport and the main roads leading into the city.
