Turin, 23 January (LaPresse) – The sacrifices made by British soldiers in Afghanistan ‘deserve to be recounted with sincerity and respect’. This was stated in a note by Prince Harry, in response to Donald Trump's comments. ‘In 2001, NATO invoked Article 5 for the first and only time in history. This meant that every allied nation was obliged to support the United States in Afghanistan in pursuit of our common security. The allies responded to that call,’ he explained. ‘I served there. I made friends there that will last a lifetime. And I lost friends there. The United Kingdom alone lost 457 service members. Thousands of lives,’ he continued, "were changed forever. Mothers and fathers buried sons and daughters. Children were left without parents. Families have to bear the burden.‘ ’These sacrifices deserve to be told with sincerity and respect, while we all remain united and faithful to the defence of diplomacy and peace," Harry added.
