Milan, 23 January (LaPresse) – Talks between US envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner in Moscow with Russian President Vladimir Putin ‘lasted about four hours and were exceptionally substantive, constructive and, I would say, extremely frank and marked by trust’. This was stated by Yuri Ushakov, Kremlin adviser, adding that issues related to the development of relations between Russia and the United States were also discussed ‘based on the fact that our countries have enormous potential for cooperation in a wide range of areas.’ This was reported by the Russian news agency Interfax. ‘American representatives are already working on some plans that could be implemented after the Ukrainian conflict,’ Ushakov added. Meanwhile, a trilateral meeting between the US, Ukraine and Russia is expected to take place today in the United Arab Emirates. Ushakov reported that Russian representatives will leave ‘in the next few hours’ and that the Russian negotiating team in Abu Dhabi will be led by Igor Kostyukov, head of the Main Directorate of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces. According to Ushakov, Putin has already given the Moscow delegation ‘specific instructions, taking into account all the details of the conversation’ he had with the US envoys.
