Milan, 29 Jan. (LaPresse) – US President Donald Trump has once again attacked Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell, calling him an ‘idiot’ and demanding that the Fed lower interest rates. "Jerome “Too Late” Powell has once again refused to cut interest rates, even though he has absolutely no reason to keep them so high. He is hurting our country and its national security. Now that even this idiot admits that inflation is no longer a problem or a threat, we should have a substantially lower rate,‘ Trump wrote in a post on his social media platform Truth. ’He is costing America hundreds of billions of dollars a year in totally unnecessary and unjustified interest expenses. Because of the vast amounts of money flowing into our country from tariffs, we should be paying the lowest interest rate of any country in the world,‘ he continued, stating that ’most of these countries are cash machines that pay low interest rates, considered elegant, solid and first-rate, only because the United States allows it." ‘The Fed should substantially lower interest rates, now!’ Trump wrote. ‘Tariffs have made America strong and powerful again, much stronger and more powerful than any other nation. In line with this strength, both financial and otherwise, we should be paying lower interest rates than any other country in the world!’ the tycoon concluded.
