Crans-Montana massacre, Valais public prosecutor's office grants Italy judicial assistance

Milan, 30 Jan. (LaPresse) – The Valais public prosecutor's office has granted judicial assistance to Italy following the New Year's Eve fire in Crans-Montana, Switzerland, in which 40 people died, including six Italians. This was announced by the Federal Office of Justice. The Swiss and Italian public prosecutors will meet in Switzerland in mid-February to discuss the details of this cooperation. This was reported by the Swiss broadcaster RTS. The Swiss judicial authorities will have to cooperate with their Italian counterparts, and the Rome Public Prosecutor's Office will have access to the Valais judicial files. ‘It's not that the Valais public prosecutor's office needs help,’ said Ingrid Ryser, head of information at the Federal Office of Justice, on Swiss German radio SRF, ‘but it might be wise for the two judicial authorities to join forces, pool their resources and collaborate on this criminal proceeding.’
