Washington (USA), 30 Jan. (LaPresse) – Elon Musk sent an email to Jeffrey Epstein at the end of 2013 to coordinate a trip to the financier's Caribbean island. This is what emerges from new documents on the case, published today by the Department of Justice. Musk had previously claimed that he had rejected Epstein's attempts to persuade him to visit one of his two islands – Great St. James and Little St. James – in the US Virgin Islands. Little St. James was an epicentre of sexual abuse of girls and young women perpetrated by Epstein for decades. On 13 December 2013, CNN reports, Musk wrote to Epstein: ‘I'll be in the British Virgin Islands/St. Barth area over the holidays. Is there a good time to come see you?’ Epstein replied two days later, saying that the beginning of the new year would be a good time, adding, ‘there's always room for you.’ On Christmas Day, Epstein wrote in another email, "The 2nd or 3rd would be perfect. I'll come and pick you up.‘ Musk initially replied that he was due to return to Los Angeles on the evening of 2 January, but then said he could postpone his departure by a day. ’When should we go to your island on the 2nd?" Musk asked Epstein. It is unclear from the emails, CNN points out, whether Musk actually visited the island. However, the emails show a level of communication between the two that had not been previously revealed, despite Musk's attempts to discredit his opponents by linking them to Epstein. During his clash with Donald Trump last year, Musk suggested that the president had slowed down the release of documents on Epstein because his name was mentioned in the material.
