Iran, Axios: ‘Agreement between Tehran and the US unlikely, war closer’

Rome, 18 February (LaPresse) – A ‘large-scale war’ between Iran and the US is “closer” than we think and ‘could start very soon’. This is according to Axios, which explains that, according to some sources, a US military operation in Iran would likely be a massive campaign, ‘lasting weeks,’ which would resemble a full-scale war more than last month's targeted operation in Venezuela. The same sources stressed that it would probably be a joint US-Israel campaign on a much larger scale than last June's “12-day war”. Axios points out that the US administration has currently adopted a “two-track” approach, namely nuclear talks combined with a massive military build-up. At present, however, although both sides have stated that the talks have “made progress”, the differences are wide and US officials are not optimistic about the possibility of bridging them.
