Washington (USA), Feb. 19 (LaPresse) – U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio "is taking steps to impose visa restrictions on 18 officials of the Iranian regime and executives in the telecommunications sector, as well as their immediate family members." The State Department said in a statement, explaining that the "visa restriction policy will target individuals who are complicit, or deemed complicit, in serious human rights violations, particularly for having obstructed the right of Iranians to freedom of expression and peaceful assembly. So far, 58 individuals have been affected by this policy." "The United States will continue to support the right of the Iranian people to freedom of expression," the statement reads. "We reaffirm our unwavering support for Iranians and their demand for peace and dignity."
