Iran, Moscow: “Unjustified armed act against Tehran”

Moscow, Feb 28 (LaPresse) – The Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs condemned the U.S. and Israeli attacks against Iran and called for an immediate return to a political and diplomatic resolution. “On the morning of February 28, U.S. and Israeli armed forces launched air strikes on Iranian territory. The scope and nature of the political-military and propaganda preparations that preceded this reckless move, including the deployment of a large U.S. military force in the region, leave no doubt that this was a planned and unprovoked act of armed aggression against a sovereign and independent UN member state, in violation of the principles and fundamental norms of international law,” the ministry stated in a declaration published Saturday on its website, as reported by Interfax. The ministry also condemned the fact that “the attacks are again being carried out under the false guise of a renewed negotiation process, supposedly designed to ensure a long-term normalization of the situation around the Islamic Republic, despite signals sent to the Russian side regarding Israel’s lack of interest in a military clash with the Iranians.”
