Washington (USA), Feb. 28 (LaPresse) – OpenAI CEO Sam Altman announced that his company has reached an agreement with the Pentagon to provide its AI to classified military networks, potentially filling the gap created by Anthropic's departure. Altman said that the same red lines that were the sticking point in Anthropic's dispute with the Pentagon mark the new partnership with OpenAI. “Two of our most important safety principles are the prohibition of internal mass surveillance and human accountability in the use of force, including for autonomous weapons systems,” Altman wrote, adding that the Department of Defense “shares these principles, reflects them in law and policies, and we have incorporated them into our agreement.” Altman also said he hopes the Pentagon “offers the same terms to all AI companies” as a way to “reduce tensions from legal and government actions toward reasonable agreements.”
