Rome, 4 March (LaPresse) – Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu asked the White House for clarification earlier this week after learning that some Trump administration officials may be in contact with Tehran. Axios reported this, citing two sources familiar with the matter, according to whom Israeli intelligence obtained information that raised suspicions that there had been communications between Iran and the Trump administration to discuss a ceasefire. On Monday, Netanyahu called White House officials and asked if such talks or exchanges of messages had taken place. The White House told Netanyahu that the Trump administration was not talking to the Iranians behind his back," one source said. A US official and another informed source said the Iranians had sent messages to the Trump administration in recent days, via Gulf countries and other countries in the region, but the US had not responded.
