Milan, Mar. 6 (LaPresse) – The President of the European Council, António Costa, together with the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, has invited Middle Eastern leaders to take part in a videoconference meeting on Monday, March 9, in light of the rapidly evolving security situation in the region. This was reported by the spokesperson for Costa, stressing that the meeting will not include the 27 EU leaders but only the presidents of the European Council and the European Commission, along with the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs Kaja Kallas. “This exchange will provide an opportunity to hear the leaders’ assessments of the situation and to discuss further support from the EU and its member states to the countries of the region, as well as ways to end the ongoing conflict,” the spokesperson said. It is not yet known which Middle Eastern leaders will take part in the meeting.
