London (United Kingdom), 11 March (LaPresse/AP) – Documents released by the British government reveal that officials had reported a possible “reputational risk” in the appointment of Peter Mandelson as UK ambassador to the United States, due to his past relationship with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. The dossier was sent to Prime Minister Keir Starmer in December 2024 before the appointment, which was considered crucial for relations with President Donald Trump's administration. Parliament forced the government to publish over 100 pages of documents on the case. According to the executive, the files show that Mandelson downplayed the extent of his contacts with Epstein. The affair has caused a major political crisis for Starmer.
