German philosopher Jürgen Habermas dies aged 96

Berlin, 14 March (LaPresse/AP) – The German philosopher and sociologist Jürgen Habermas has died at the age of 96. His work on communication, rationality and sociology made him one of the world’s most influential philosophers and a key intellectual figure in Germany. The publishing house Suhrkamp Verlag has stated that Habermas passed away today in Starnberg, near Munich. Habermas frequently commented on political issues over the course of several decades. His extensive body of work transcended the boundaries between various academic and philosophical disciplines, offering a vision of modern society and social interaction. Among his best-known works is the two-volume “Theory of Communicative Action”.
