Turin, 17 March (LaPresse) – China and the United States are in contact regarding the date of US President Donald Trump’s visit to China, and no further information is available at present. This was stated by a spokesperson for the Chinese Foreign Ministry, Lin Jian, quoted by Xinhua, after Trump reported yesterday that he had asked Beijing to postpone his visit, scheduled for 31 March to 2 April. Previously, some media outlets had reported that Trump had stated his visit to China might be postponed if China did not provide assistance in monitoring the Strait of Hormuz. “We have noted that the United States has publicly clarified the erroneous reports circulated by the media, describing them as completely false,” Lin said, adding that the US side had emphasised that the visit is not linked to the issue of the Strait of Hormuz.
