Washington (USA), Mar. 17 (LaPresse) – The director of the US National Counterterrorism Center, Joe Kent, has resigned in protest against the US administration’s decision to attack Iran. “After careful reflection, I have decided to resign from my position as Director of the National Counterterrorism Center, effective immediately. I cannot in good conscience support the ongoing war in Iran,” he wrote in a letter published on social media. “Iran did not represent an imminent threat to our nation, and it is clear that we entered this war due to pressure from Israel and its powerful American lobby,” he added. “It has been an honor to serve under the leadership of the President of the United States, Donald Trump, and the Director of National Intelligence, Tulsi Gabbard, and to lead the professionals of the National Counterterrorism Center,” Kent concluded.
