Milan, 24 March (LaPresse) – Iran has appointed a former commander of the Revolutionary Guards as the new secretary of the country’s Supreme National Security Council. State television in Tehran has identified Mohammad Bagher Zolghadr as the successor to Ali Larijani, who was killed in an Israeli airstrike. Zolghadr rose to the rank of brigadier general in the Guards. He previously served as secretary of the Expediency Council of the Iranian System, the body that mediates relations between Parliament and the Guardian Council, which checks whether laws are compatible with the Constitution and Islamic law.
