The General Secretary of the Communist Party, with 495 votes in favour, has consolidated his power and now holds Vietnam’s top political posts, a situation likened to that of China. At 69, Lam has already held both roles in 2024 and has initiated reforms to reduce the number of ministries and promote the private sector. Despite a target of 10% annual growth, the Vietnamese economy is under pressure due to the energy crisis and faces diplomatic challenges with the United States and China.
