Milan, 8 April (LaPresse) – US Secretary of State Marco Rubio has confirmed that the American journalist Shelley Kittleson, who was kidnapped last week in Iraq, has been released. Kittleson was kidnapped on 31 March by the Iranian-backed Iraqi militia Kataib Hezbollah. “I am pleased to announce the release of American journalist Shelly Kittleson, who was recently kidnapped by members of the foreign terrorist organisation Kata’ib Hezbollah near Baghdad, Iraq,” wrote Rubio, who thanked the Iraqi authorities, the FBI, the US Department of Defence and other US agencies for their work in securing the journalist’s release. “The US State Department expresses its gratitude to the FBI, the Department of Defence, US personnel from various agencies, the Iraqi Supreme Judicial Council and our Iraqi partners for their assistance in securing her release,” the post reads.
