Rome, 9 April (LaPresse/AP) – Abdul Malik al-Houthi, leader of the Iran-backed Houthis in Yemen, has described the ceasefire announced between the United States and Iran as a ‘great victory’ for Tehran. In a video statement released on Thursday via Telegram, he claimed that Iran had finally succeeded in ‘defeating the enemy’. Al-Houthi added that his group had succeeded in preventing Israel and the United States from using the Red Sea to attack Iran and confirmed that it had launched attacks against Israel, stating further that Iran’s decision to close the Strait of Hormuz represented a key pressure tactic against the United States and its allies.
