Rome, April 9. (LaPresse) – The association agreement between Israel and the European Union, signed in 2000, could be renegotiated in light of Israeli raids on Lebanon. Pascal Confavreux, spokesman for the French Foreign Ministry, hypothesized this. Paris called the bombing "disproportionate" and more than 200 people were killed in Wednesday's airstrikes. "Given the gravity of what happened yesterday and the situation in the West Bank, we cannot rule out the possibility of reopening discussions on the suspension of the association agreement between the European Union and Israel, in addition to national sanctions," he said, reported by French media. "Israel certainly has the right to defend itself, but its actions are not only unacceptable, but disproportionate and are leading to a de facto stalemate," he added.
