Frankfurt (Germany), 11 April (LaPresse) – According to vessel tracking data, several ships are heading towards the Strait of Hormuz ahead of the start of peace talks between Iran and the United States in Islamabad. This is reported by CNN. According to the MarineTraffic website, a number of vessels, most of them Chinese, have crossed the Strait or are heading towards it from the Persian Gulf. A Chinese merchant ship passed through the area overnight, having departed from the Iraqi port of Umm Qasr almost a month ago. Earlier today, two Chinese oil tankers, each with a capacity of around 300,000 tonnes and reported to be fully loaded, were heading towards the Strait. Both were sailing close to the Iranian coast. And a liquefied natural gas tanker flying the Botswana flag, named Nidi, appears to be attempting for the second time to leave the Gulf after returning early on Friday. Traffic remains a fraction of what it would normally be: around 100 ships a day.
