Frankfurt (Germany), 12 April (LaPresse) – After talks between the United States and Iran in Islamabad ended without an agreement, US President Donald Trump shared an article on his Truth Social platform suggesting the possibility of imposing a naval blockade on Iran should the latter fail to accept US demands. The article, entitled “The trump card the president holds if Iran does not yield: a naval blockade”, published by the pro-Trump website Just the News, states that the blockade would stifle the Iranian economy and put pressure on Iran’s allies, China and India, which depend on Iranian oil exports. The article argues that such a move by Trump would “revive his successful blockade strategy”, after a previous naval blockade “brought the Venezuelan economy to its knees” prior to the US capture of Venezuelan leader Nicolás Maduro in January.
