Turin, 14 April (LaPresse) – “All parties have agreed to launch a process of direct negotiations at a time and place to be agreed upon, regarding its format.” This is stated in a joint declaration by Israel, Lebanon and the United States following today’s talks in Washington. Ynet reports. The American side reported that the United States “has supported the Lebanese government’s plans to restore its monopoly on arms and put an end to internal Iranian influence, as well as Israel’s right to defend itself”. The Israeli side stated that Tel Aviv “has expressed its support for the dismantling of all non-governmental armed organisations and terrorist infrastructure in Lebanon, and emphasises its commitment to working with the Lebanese government to achieve this objective”.
