Kyiv (Ukraine), May 1. (LaPresse) – Ukrainian armed forces have struck an oil terminal in the Russian city of Tuapse, on the Black Sea. This was stated by the Ukrainian General Staff, marking the fourth attack against oil infrastructure in the region in just over two weeks. Explosions and a fire were reported at the terminal, according to the statement. Local Russian officials said a Ukrainian drone attack triggered the fire and that there were no casualties. The facility had already been hit on April 16, 20 and 28. Regional governor Veniamin Kondratyev said that a fire at the city’s oil refinery had also been extinguished on Thursday, less than 24 hours before the latest attack.
Meanwhile, Russian attacks continue to hit Ukraine. Moscow attacked the city of Ternopil, in western Ukraine, with more than 50 drones on Friday, said Mayor Serhii Nadal. Strikes were recorded on industrial plants and infrastructure. At least 10 people were injured, he added, while some districts are still without electricity due to the massive attack. Two residential high-rise buildings and port infrastructure in Odesa were damaged after Russian forces launched another overnight drone attack in the southern region. An apartment in a 16-storey building was destroyed and its roof caught fire. In another residential skyscraper, a fire engulfed the 12th floor, according to the Ukrainian Emergency Service.
In a Telegram post, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said at least five people were injured in the region. He added that damage from overnight attacks was also recorded in the central city of Kryvyi Rih and in the northeastern Kharkiv region, where railway infrastructure was hit. “Russia continues to attack our energy infrastructure, critical infrastructure and civilian targets. This night there were 210 drone attacks, including about 140 ‘Shahed’ drones,” Zelensky wrote.
