Washington (USA), May 2. (LaPresse) – The Pentagon is planning the withdrawal of about 5,000 American soldiers from Germany. This was reported by CBS citing anonymous sources among senior defense officials. According to the American broadcast network, the move could represent a sign of President Donald Trump’s dissatisfaction with the level of assistance offered by European allies in the war with Iran. Germany, where Washington’s military presence has been massive since the end of the Second World War, with more than 36,000 soldiers, 1,500 reservists and 11,500 civilians stationed as of December 2025 (numbers second only to Japan), is also the nation that hosts the headquarters of the United States European Command and the United States Africa Command. Ramstein Air Base is an important hub for US operations.
