Frankfurt (Germany), 5 May (LaPresse) – Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu met in Jerusalem with the envoy of the so-called Board of Peace for Gaza, Nickolay Mladenov, who is in charge of the Gaza Strip dossier. US Ambassador Mike Huckabee also attended the meeting. According to the Times of Israel, Mladenov is expected to ask Israel to ease certain restrictions on the entry of humanitarian aid into Gaza and to limit military operations in the Strip. Over the past few weeks, Mladenov has held talks with Hamas representatives, asking the group to accept a proposal for the organisation’s gradual disarmament by 11 April. Hamas, however, has rejected the idea of completely laying down its arms, presenting a counter-proposal that links the issue of disarmament to the creation of a Palestinian state.
