Rome, May 9 (LaPresse) – Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi made remarks regarding the U.S. naval escalation in the Gulf during a phone call with Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan. According to the Iranian news agency Tasnim, Araghchi reportedly said that recent “provocative” actions by the United States in the Persian Gulf and “offensive rhetoric” by senior American officials had increased Iranian suspicions about Washington’s commitment to diplomacy. He also reportedly accused the United States of repeatedly violating the ceasefire, saying that Washington’s approach is undermining diplomatic efforts and deepening distrust among Iranians toward U.S. intentions. The Foreign Minister stated that, in order to move the diplomatic process forward, it is necessary to end illegal attacks and “unreasonable and excessive approaches” by the other side.
