Brussels, 11 May (LaPresse) – "On the battlefield, we are facing a new reality. Ukraine has grown stronger. After an extremely difficult winter, we managed to get through it, with the help of our international partners, and we have stabilised the front line on the battlefield. We are also able to control the airspace. As for drones, we are now able to shoot down up to 90% of the aerial objects with which the Russians are attacking us. Furthermore, we are implementing very effective long-range special sanctions, and they are working. We have also noted new and interesting developments in Russia, not only in the economic sphere, so we are monitoring them, and for us this is also a signal to continue putting pressure on Russia. “That is why I am here to discuss new sanctions packages with my colleagues,” said Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiha on arriving at the Foreign Affairs Council in Brussels. “We will discuss,” he added, “peace efforts. We are trying to seize every opportunity to move closer to a comprehensive peace. We might talk about Europe’s new role. Of course, the peace talks are proceeding under US leadership, and we need US leadership, but Europe could also play a role. I will discuss this path with my colleagues, and we are not talking about alternative peace talks or a diplomatic track, but about complementarity."
