Brussels, 11 May (LaPresse) – ‘We believe there must be concrete action. Putin’s statement was just a statement. Let’s see if the Russians really want to end the war, because there have been too many contradictory statements. Obviously, peace cannot be achieved without Europe’s involvement. Europe is at the forefront of defending Ukraine.’ This was stated by Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani at the conclusion of the Foreign Affairs Council in Brussels. ‘Ukraine is a candidate country for membership of the European Union and no agreement can be concluded without Europe’s involvement. Europe has imposed sanctions and is preparing another package of sanctions against the Russian Federation, so to achieve peace we would also have to lift these sanctions. We should be present at the final stage of the agreements,’ he added.
