New Delhi (India), May 14 (LaPresse/AP) – “We must all intensify our efforts to put an end to this sense of superiority and impunity on the part of the United States, a concept that has no place in today’s world.” Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi made this statement during a meeting with his counterparts from the BRICS countries in New Delhi, India. Araghchi urged the BRICS countries to condemn the United States and Israel for what he called their “illegal aggression” against Tehran. The Iranian minister then called on the bloc’s members and other countries to “take concrete measures to stop the belligerent policy” and put an end to what he described as impunity for violations of the United Nations Charter. Araghchi also called for an end to the “politicization” of international institutions and stated that Tehran appreciates the support shown by the BRICS countries but is calling for more decisive action. The meeting brings together the foreign ministers of the BRICS founding countries (Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa), along with their counterparts from countries that have recently joined the bloc: Egypt, Ethiopia, Iran, the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, and Indonesia.
