Ukraine: Russian drone and missile attack on Kyiv leaves 1 dead and 31 injured

Kyiv (Ukraine), May 14 (LaPresse/AP) – A massive Russian drone and missile attack struck Kyiv in the early hours of today. According to local authorities, at least one person was killed and 31 were injured. The attack struck civilian infrastructure and residential buildings in several cities, said Ukrainian Prime Minister Yuliia Svyrydenko, with Kyiv suffering the heaviest losses. Damage was reported in six districts of the capital, according to the head of Kyiv’s Military Administration, Tymur Tkachenko, who warned that Russia was attacking the city with ballistic missiles and drones. Residential buildings and civilian infrastructure were damaged. The cities of Kremenchuk, Bila Tserkva, Kharkiv, Sumy, and Odessa were also targeted in the attack, which involved both ballistic and cruise missiles, he added. In the Darnytsia district of Kyiv, a multi-story residential building partially collapsed, burying people under the rubble. At least 27 people were rescued from the rubble, according to the Ukrainian Emergency Service. Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko stated that 18 apartments were destroyed. Following the attack, water supply issues occurred on the left bank of Kyiv.
