Flotilla, Herzog: ‘Abuse of prisoners must be banned’

Milan, 24 May (LaPresse) – In Israel, ‘abusing prisoners must be banned’, regardless of the severity of their crimes. This was stated by Israeli President Isaac Herzog during the ceremony to award the Jerusalem Unity Prize, in an apparent reference to the video of National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir in which he mocks some arrested activists from the Global Summit Flotilla. ‘Our people are magnificent, endowed with extraordinary strength, but we must draw boundaries. I say this loud and clear: unity begins with humanity,’ he added, condemning the violence of settlers in the West Bank, ‘we must not tolerate this brutality that comes from the fringes of society and threatens us all.’ This was reported by The Times of Israel.
