China: Collapse at an illegal mine leaves 5 dead and one injured

Beijing (China), May 31 (LaPresse/AP) – A collapse occurred today in China inside an illegal mine, leaving five dead and one injured. This was reported by the Chinese news agency Xinhua, which stated that the accident took place around 4:30 a.m. in Huize County, in Yunnan Province, in the southwestern part of the country. The agency did not specify what type of mine it was. Rescuers rescued all six people trapped at the site in the village of Baiwu and transported them to the hospital, but five of them later died from their injuries. The survivor is in stable condition, according to reports. Authorities are investigating the causes of the collapse.
