Iran: media report US has accepted Tehran’s text, likely to be approved by top officials

Turin, 11 June (LaPresse) – “Given that the United States has accepted the text proposed by Iran, it is highly likely that this text will be approved by top officials”. This was reported by the Iranian government’s semi-official news agency Fars, as cited by Ynet, which stated that “around two weeks ago, the draft text of the memorandum of understanding between the negotiating teams was awaiting only final approval in Tehran and Washington. Trump again requested the addition of some new details and, in response, Iran announced that it would not consider the new text”. ‘Since Wednesday, Qatar has stepped in to mediate and announced the US’s withdrawal from the new additional clauses. In other words, a return to the original text which was still awaiting final approval. Not only has Iran not provided a definitive response, but it was the US that reverted to its previous request,’ the agency emphasises.
